Blossom Possum Cosplay
Hi! My name is Aleena and I’m a 22 year old cosplayer and performer from Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, England.
I first started doing cosplay in 2012. I had done Halloween costumes before, that you could consider somewhat cosplay, but my con going began in 2012. I started making my own costumes in 2014, with the help of my lovely mum who taught me everything she knows. Cosplay, for me, is a way of expressing myself and showing what I can do.
I’ve always loved creating and performing, so cosplay was, and still is, my perfect go to. I trained in musical theatre for two years, from 2015 to 2017. I performed at lots of YCC cons last year, and I am SO excited to be back doing it all over again!
One of the reasons I love to cosplay so much, is because I can show people that no matter what ailment or problems you may have, you don’t have to let it control you. I was diagnosed as type 1 diabetic at the age of 4, and it’s something I have had to live with for as long as I can remember, but cosplay has taught me that despite having to inject, or have a pump attached to my side, it does not have to stop me. It doesn’t stop me. I want to share that strength and willpower with others. I want to show people that you can be who you want, and do what you want, without letting your problems control you. Stop seeing them as problems, and use them to drive you. Turn your problems into inspiration.
Anyway! That’s enough of me rambling. I am super excited, and cannot WAIT to meet even more people. Come say hi and have a chat or a hug! It’s gonna be a blast. See you guys there!
